WIP Wednesday - Yarn Along

This week has been rather hectic, but I did manage to get some things done.

More things started than finished though this week, needed a change of scenery I guess!

It has been exciting though and I do have quite a bit to share!

My daughters' cabled socks are still on the needles :-( hope to have them done by the end of this week. With the girls starting at their new school this week, it has been a lot of running around for all of us.

Reading wise: Finished "All that remains" but haven't started reading anything new just yet.

I found some fabric in my attic that I have had for years so I tried my hand at this messenger bag.

It took me the whole of Sunday to complete, but was a lot of fun and it turned out quite nicely. Unfortunately, because the cloth was aged, it did start to tear in places whilst I was using it. No matter, at least I now now how to make one and will try again soon!

Inside pockets: one for cellphone, 2 for pens

I also have started to work on a Maluka shawl So far so good... I wasn't sure if I would manage a shawl, but it is working out okay. But then again, I have just started with the border, so I am hoping that I will be able to do the shawl justice in the end as it is really beautiful.

I also managed to get myself some Knit pros on special - Yay me!!!! They arrived yesterday while I was out so it was a nice surprise when I got home.

I have a couple of projects planned with my new funky set of needles, so will hopefully have something to share with you shortly!

Don't forget that today is your last chance to enter the competition to win yourself a PDF pattern of my Simply Cabled Sox - Good Luck!

Come past and share your Kitchen Krafts tomorrow.

I will be linking my post with all of the wonderfully talented folks over at:

    1. Thanks Sarah,

Was a bit of a pity, but at least I went through the motions and managed to complete it :-D I am sure I can darn the tear, but I think the material is just too old and I will probably have to keep darning it forever, so I look forward to finding the perfect fabric and will try again at a later stage.

      Thanks for visiting.

    1. Hi Tracey,

Glad you like it, I started it in another colourway first but it didn't look that good, I much prefer it in the reds.

      Thanks for the visit

  4. Wow, your Maluka is going to be just stunning in that yarn! Are you like me, spreading your knitting between your fingers trying to imagine it after blocking? Knitting lace is like a magic trick, I think!

  5. Love the bag! I recently made myself a bag because I could never find something that would hold everything I wanted. So I designed my own :-) Love the fabric!

  6. I've always wondered about the convenience of inter changeable circular knitting needles. I bet they will be a time saver when it comes to searching for the needles you need.

    1. Hi Earth Mama,

I have since started using them and they are not only convenient with regards to being interchangeable, but the cable as such is wonderfully pliable. I love the fact that they also come with ends for the cable so that if you are like me at the moment and have a hundred new ideas for projects and 50 of those happen to be on needles, you can just unscrew the tips, leave your work on the cable and use the tips with a new cable for the next project. I really think they are nifty!

And of course you save loads! Because I wasn't sure which to purchase first I bought a sample set - this comes with the 3 different tips, wood, metal and acrylic, 2 cables, stops and a key. It is a wonderful set to begin and you can get the feel of the needles.

      Thanks for the visit.

    1. Hi there,

I wanted to do something "quilty" or appliqué something onto the bag as the material alone just didn't do it, and then I found a whole ream of felt so I started with the alternate stripes and it seemed to come together nicely.

Thanks so much for coming past.
