Somewhere over the Clouds :)

On Thursday we set off on for a hike up to the "Schafloch" here in the canton of Berne. Leaving home in the fog we drove higher and higher until we had this amazing sea of cloud beneath us. Once at the foot of the mountain I was overwhelmed at the size of it all! I had a pretty steep climb to the tunnel that was created in the mountain, but we then hiked through the mass of 600m of tunnel to enjoy a breathtaking view on the other side. This tunnel used to be an ice-tunnel through the Rothhorn mountain. It was used by the military in the second world war as a possibility to bring resources and men to the underlying villages should they need the help. Today it stands as it is and is a big hiking attraction.

  1. I've never heard of it. But I have to admit that I don't know the Berner Oberland that well. My mother-in-law and her husband live in Kandersteg.
I guess it is snowing at your place too .... happy weekend. Regula
