Wooly Wednesday and Give-Away

Yip, Wednesday AGAIN :)
So what have you been up to? I have been quite busy again this week, although the pictures don't perhaps relay that message.
Don't you just love Drops?
I often use their patterns but have recently been using their wool as well, I LOVE this yarn. Given some say it is not as good as perhaps Madeline Tosh, or Rowan, but I think the yarn is wonderful to work with and goes so far! I truly appreciate this fantastic Yarn! There really is something to be said about knitting a pattern in the suggested yarns, it is just soooo much easier isn't it?

The big ball of orange in the corner.....that is a ball of Drops Verdi, so cool and convenient, 1 ball is 350g worth of wool and you can knit a whole project with just the one. I am going to be knitting this with that big ball...

Whilst ordering the yarn, I grabbed myself a copy of their pattern books, wow, why hadn't I thought of doing that before? Not only are the books wonderfully presented, the images are all in colour, and the best bit is that the patterns are all in one place! No more printing out of these babies for me, from now on I will be ordering!

Last week I was asked what the pastel wool was going to become. Well as you can see it turned out to be another pair of fingerless gloves! If you are like me, as soon as there is that chill in the air, I grab my DPNs and start a project, or two or three *blush*.
Anyway, as you can see they are complete. I have added a simple cable pattern into the top of the hand and they are lovely to wear.

Are you looking for a quick fingerless glove pattern to whip up?
Look no further, I will be sharing this FREE pattern with you all as my FO on Friday :D

As to the rest of my WIPs, I am still busy and am trying not to start anything new until some of my waiting WIPs are complete - this is very hard as most of you reading this will know! LOL!

I have picked up the purple WIP again. This is Kays' Jersey, if you recall, the body is done and it is just waiting for the sleeves, so I need to get it finished as she seems to be growing like weeds at the moment, and I would like her to be able to wear this jersey, even if only for a little while.

Reading-wise: You guessed it, still on the Game of Thrones! Am finally over half way. I can't accept defeat and put this book down, although I would like to, so I am still trudging on! I am on Chapter 46 of 70-something UGH! I don't think definitely won't be reading any of the others! Not for me!

Tomorrow on Tutorial Thursday I will be showing you how I created this bag:
I hope you will be visiting?
Do come by and share your crafts from this week as well, I would love to see all of them:)

  4. A lot of the free patterns I have bookmarked on Ravelry happen to be DROPS pattersn. I seem to like all their stuff. Your fingerless gloves are so beautiful, and so are those bags you created.

  5. The Log Cabin Blanket I'm working on right now is a DROPS pattern. I stumbled on it one day and I'm not sure I could find it again. I'm glad to hear to you like the yarn too. There really isn't a store nearby to buy it although I could order it. One a side note, my husband and I were in Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland a month ago and loved every second we were there!

    1. Hi flyingjen,
I order my yarn online from a LYS close-by which is super convenient :)
Lauterbrunnen is very close to where I live, it is (In my opinion) one of the prettiest parts of Switzerland ;)
      Thanks for visiting.

  6. I haven't knit a DROPS pattern in ages, but I do recall that some of the translations were a bit hard to understand when I was a newbie knitter :) It is very generous of them to offer so many and such variety all for free. The Verdi looks lovely - nice colour - so I can't wait to see that Jacket!

    1. Hi Minding My Own Stitches,

I agree, it is wonderful to have all these amazing patterns at our fingertips and I think it was inevitable that I finally tried their yarn as it looks so lovely when pictured in the patterns, and am so glad I did :)

  8. Oops, I never worked with a Drops (crochet) pattern, I tried but it didn't work to well. Nevertheless, your fingerless mitts look great!

    1. Hi Elisabeth,

I did try a crochet pattern of theirs earlier this year for Jas, it turned out okay (I am still very much a novice when it comes to crochet) I think it went alright ;). I also didn't use their yarn but another similar yarn. The vest turned out a bit on the big side, but it was probably my fault. Jas likes it, so I guess that is all that counts in the end :D
