I have decided to start a Monday running post about organization and will be telling you how I organize my crafts, blogging, work, knitting etc with my loyal Filofax :)
I know, I know, it isn't Monday yet, but I am so excited to start and the post is ready......
I have many people mention that I am very busy, and I would like to share with you the way I keep on top of things.
Today I am going to start off with my Filofax Section - Knitting.
My Knitting section has the following custom-made Printables inside of it (I will be posting a post and a free printable over the next five weeks for each page as we move through the knitting section).
1. Needles on Hand (Today)
2. Wool Stash
3. WIPs
4. Queue
5. Yarn Lurv - Yarn Shopping list.
Let's begin:
When I look at a new pattern, I used to constantly have to ask myself if I have those tips and/or DPNs on hand and then I would have to rummage through my needle drawer to re-locate all my tips and DPNs and needle gauge to find out if I actually have the necessary tools at home.
It used to be a real bother, so I decided to add a section to my Filofax that is dedicated to keeping track of all the tools I have on hand to make starting a project that much easier.
Inside my knitting section, after the divider, I have a list of all my needles that I have in stock. This is a similar chart like the one I found on Ravelry.
I wanted to personalize the chart for my usage and so I tweaked it to my liking.

Please bear with me through this video, I shot it in one go as I didn't want to be chopping and fixing, so this is the REAL me :D

I generally do not use straights and do all of my knitting on either my Knit Pros or DPNs.
So I have a Needle/Hook list that includes only those. If you are like me and would prefer that model, let me know.

Wow - this looks a) amazingly organised and b) quite complicated! I am a beginner crocheter and tend to just crochet away, guessing as I go along and making huge enormous blankets :)

ReplyDeleteI'm new to your blog and I'm an off again, on again knitter since 1963....I have unfinished projects, a big yarn stash, many needles and patterns. I'm putting everything into a binder, including the first instruction book I bought in 1963 for 75 cents. Times have really changed!!! Thanks for your ideas and printables. I've bookmarked the blog.
