Warmer Wednesdays

Wip Wednesdays

It feels like Spring is finally on our doorstep - Hooray!
It is so wonderful to not only see the sun again, but to feel that it is slowly gaining in strength.

This week I have only half of the projects from last week to show you because I have had to decide which are more important to finish off right now and to concentrate on those first.

Jas has her ball in a week and a half time which means I am knitting like crazy to get to the end of her bolero. I do hope I will make it in time. I am coming to the end of the first front side and then will get right on with the next side in an attempt to finish before the weekend!

When I need a change of scenery I am continuing on the pet bed I am crochetting for my cats. I am on the side of the bed now and am quickly running out of feltable wool and think I may need to order some more before I am finished with the project!

Due to this flurry of knitting I am coming short on time to finish my sock pattern for the upcoming KAL and it looks like it will have to start a fortnight later than originally planned, which I feel is better that way as I don't want to rush through finishing the pattern without having the extra bit of time to be sure the pattern is also correct! :)

Reading wise: I have now finished Allegiant and have started reading The 100 Year Old Man who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared
I am also still busy with Why Cleaning has Meaning and am enjoying the title so far.

What are you busy reading?

And for this week's awesome news:

Beekeeping 2014

Handmade Beehive

I am in my second year of my Beekeeper course and was wondering if I should postpone this years course until next year when I once again have enough time on my hands to start in earnest. Last week Thursday I asked the Universe to send me a sign as to which way I should go - finish the course this year or wait for 2015. Blow me down, as I got to work the first thing I got asked by a colleague of mine is if I wanted to have 2 beehives! What are the odds of that happening? Needless to say I have now continued my studies this year :)

Aren't the hives cute? They need a little work, but they are fully equipped with wax, varroa sheets.....everything I need, so I am actually ready for my own swarm of bees ;)

Don't forget to enter yourself to win the amazing online Sewing Course taking place here on the blog, you only have a couple of days left - Winner will be announced on 26th March 2014.

See you soon.

I will be sharing this post with my usual Wednesday friends :)

  1. Two beehives! Lucky you. :-) I don't start bee keeping this year. But I'm still continuing with the course.

    1. Hi Regula,
I am really lucky, I am so glad to be on the receiving side of these beautiful handmade hives :)
We should really meet, we have so much in common!
      Thanks for visiting.

  2. That bolero looks like it's flying off your needless although I'm sure it probably doesn't feel like it. The cat bed has beautiful colors to it. My in-laws keep bees; this will be their third year coming up in the spring and while it takes some practice they live the end results! Their honey is delicious.

    1. Hi Christine,
How interesting! How many bee colonies do your in-laws have?
I can't wait to get involved.
Thank you so much for visiting.

  3. Good luck with the bolero. It's hard to knit on deadline -- although sometimes a deadline is exactly what I need!
I'm about to start Divergent. I love the title of "Why Cleaning Has Meaning," but I looked it up on Amazon and it has just a few reviews, all really bad. I'll look forward to seeing what you think.

    1. Hi Caffeine Girl,
I will be posting my review on "Why Cleaning has Meaning" shortly and do hope it will give you a different take on this great resource :) I hope you are enjoying Divergent thus far?
Thank you so much for visiting.

  4. 100 yr old man book sounds interesting. Struggling with the time to read the overdue library book I have now, but it's truly worth the effort, isn't it? I'm not so good with deadline knitting...I just don't knit fast enough and too many things get in the way. I'm thinking I should do a small sweater for a child and see if that motivates me. Can't wait to see how yours turns out.

    1. Hi Karen Sue,
No, I must admit I do not like this deadline knitting either, but the good news is that I have managed to complete the bolero in the nick of time :)
I will share the end results with you on Friday.
Thank you so much for your visit.

  5. Fantastic looking beehives! - how very exciting to be getting your own bee's.
Weather has been very warm here, i've planted lots of seeds in my jiffy planters and am going to try my hand at making a cold frame this weekend.
Have you started your garden yet? Are you sticking with the raised beds? my f.i.l still won't go for them!!

    1. Hi Emma,
Our weather was gorgeous for a while, but we have had such a wonderful wintery snow storm weekend behind us that everything is back under a bed of snow!
Thank goodness we haven't really made any movement towards the garden just yet as that would have not put me in a very good gardening mood! Yes, we do plan to stick with the SFG this year again, I will give you a shout as soon as we have made some progress :)
We still need to get in contact, almost a year has passed if not already! Hopefully we can make plans this year.
Thanks so much for your visit.
