Shades of Purple

Today's WIPs image is filled with tones of purple, even though there isn't that much purple in it :)

Let me show you what I am busy with this week.

First up, my project from last week:

avalanche

It looks relatively similar to last week's image, but I have been working on it :)
I guess it is because the yarn is so fine, the progress seems slow, but I will soon be able to join in the round and then I am hoping that it will grow a little quicker than it seems to be doing at the present moment!

I am still enjoying this project very much although it almost seems like I am knitting a shawl right now according to the stitches involved ;)
Once I get to knit in the round and the purl falls away it should move a lot quicker.

I have cast on two new projects this week.

The first of them is my Baable Hat

baable hat

After watching all of the baable hats growing last year, I really wanted to knit one. I introduced it as a group project in my knitting group which meets locally and we have decided to knit this cap together :)

knit-nights in Thun

As you can see my knitty friends managed to get a lot further than me on Monday evening....

I don't think I am much of a hat wearing person as they just don't seem to suit me, but I still haven't given up hope that one day I may find a hat that fits :)

Maybe this is it?

I have started with modifications in this pattern after ripping it back once.

I cast on the 96 stitches and realized after a couple of rounds that it would work out to be too big for anyone in my family.

I found Susan B.'s Modification tips on this pattern and so I will be following her initial setup for the moment and hope that this works out better for myself.

This hat is being knit in Drops Nepal.

I am still busy in the ribbing so I cannot give you any other information on the pattern right now, but I hope to be able to do so next week!

The next thing I cast on on Monday was my February Sock-Along socks:

Sea Wall

These are my Sea Wall socks.

I am just finished with the ribbing and have finished my set-up row so I will be moving onto the pattern next.

Tin can Knits is one of the lovely sponsors of this year's Sock-Along and you will be able to win some cool pattern books from them throughout the year as well as some amazing yarn and other prizes - and that just for taking part!

All you need to do is to cast on a pair of socks and finish them in the same month - that is all there is to it!

sock-along 2016

If you are interested I would love to have you join us.
February has only just begun so you will have ample time to get your socks finished if you cast them on soon :)

Come on over to the Ravelry group and share your projects and have a chat along the way!

My last bit of yumminess to share with you this week is my new yarn bowl - squee!!!!

yarn bowl

This is my yarn bowl that I reserved at last year's Swiss Wulle Festival

It is made by Hanna of Ton-Topf and I just love it!

As we are still busy with our Renovation, I will be leaving this baby in it's bubble wrap until my craft room is complete, but I couldn't not show you it in all it's beauty, now could I?

Reading Wise: I haven't had much time to read at the moment and am hoping that that will change soon.

I will be sharing this with all of my creative friends so do pop on over there for some incredible inspiration!

Do come back on Friday and share your FOs with me, I also have one to share with you all this week :)

See you soon
x

  1. I had to do the mods on my my Baable hat - the first one came out way too big. It's a hat that I actually do wear, especially when I take the dog out on those cold windy days.

  3. I am anxious to see your baable hat! I am knitting the Sea Wall socks right now. I was planning on doing the hermione socks for January but after looking at the pattern realized it was on circulars...magic loop I guess? I've never done that. I'd like to learn but I had so much going on I didnt feel up to it. I switched over to the Sea Wall socks and will try and make them my February socks for the KAL. One month behind but maybe I can sneak another pair of socks in to make up for January!

    1. Hi Jeannetebr,
Don't stress yourself about knitting your socks - it should be a fun experience, so it doesn't matter how much you fall behind, every pair is a bonus ;). If you need any help with techniques or anything please don't hesitate to ask. I look forward to seeing your Sea Wall socks in the Ravelry group, that will be the third pair of those for this month - I love seeing how each pair grows, so cool!
Have a great weekend and thanks for visiting.

    1. Hi Caroline,
I am really liking the pattern. Combined with the gorgeous yarn it is knit with, makes for quite an easy knit thus far ;)
      Thanks so much for visiting.

  5. Oh goodness the bowl is gorgeous! I seem to have mislaid my January socks at the making-up point, but you've reminded me to start some February socks to keep in the car for when the toddler has a nap on the go!
