A Productive Week

wip wednesday

I feel that I have been rather productive this week - maybe it is because there have been a couple of super changes that have finally taken place in our home (renovation-wise), more on that below :)

Let me start with this week's yarny progress:

stripey socks for jas

These are another pair of interim socks that I cast on quite a while ago.

Since I finished my June socks quite quickly this month, I have had some time to work a little on these.

I really love the colour transitions of this yarn and thought that as I have a purple toe and heel, that I would keep on knitting up the leg until I get to the purple section again to start on the ribbing - but the legs are getting too long for my preference so I have started on the ribbing yesterday.

I hope I will have these babies finished in time to share them with you on Friday (feel free to share your FO of the week with me then too)

In other sock related news:

I have chosen my yarn for next month's Sock-Along pattern.
I will be knitting with some Spinnwebstube yarn that I received this year in my Sock-Subscription packages.

I will be knitting the toes, heels and cuffs in the green tweed and the rest of the sock in the gorgeous brown/beige yarn.

Will you be joining in the fun?

Next month begins a new Prize segment so do stay tuned to see what will be up for grabs over the next three months.

You can find out all of the Sock-Along Info HERE

I even managed some progress on my enormous cat basket this week :)

We have had some more rainy, cool weather which has been perfect for blanket knitting. I have five more sections to go until I have the basket complete, but I am a little worried that I may run out of the yarn before I get to the end, which is quite bothersome as I ordered the amount that was stated on the pattern :(

I hope that I will have this piece finished before the heat hits us and then I can tell you if the yarn reached the end or not!

Onto sewing:

I was telling you about my current sewing project the last time I chatted with you. (You can find that post HERE)

Over the last week and a half I have been busy working on my Tunic.

This is my progress thus far, I will be altering the pattern a little by inserting sleeves.

I love this fabric and the pattern is looking great so far.

Onto Weaving:

The coolest bit of news is that my craft room is finally empty enough for my lovely loom to be unpacked...(it has been standing packed in it's delivery boxes for a year and a month now)

I have warped her, and will begin my first project with her at the latest on the weekend.

Besides all of these projects, I managed to get soaping again (I have a big market in November, so I need to get going if I want to have any produce on my stand) and I made my annual batch of Chutney.

Each year I need to make a little more as friends and family can't get enough of it. If you are a homesick South African looking for a certain Mrs. B's, or if you would simply like to give it a bash, you can find my recipe tutorial HERE

Reading Wise: I am still moving forward on the same title as the last 6 months ;O (so bad.....)

I will be sharing this post with all of my creative friends, so do pop over there for some great inspiration.

See you soon.

FO Friday Fun

fo friday fun

Welcome back to another week of Finished Object Fun!

Burda 6/2016

This week I am sharing one of my recent finished sewing endeavors.

The pattern is Burda 5/2016, dress 105

I made mine in a jersey interlock, with a contrasting fabric for the pocket flaps, neck and extra sleeve border. I added the pockets in the side seams.
I shortened my dress to be worn as a tunic over leggings which I prefer.

What would I change if I made this pattern again?

As I am pear shaped, I would definitely leave out the pockets as it adds unnecessary bulk where I really do not need it ;)

That being said, I love pockets in clothing as I am always caring something around, usually keys and I like having somewhere on me to keep them - so maybe next time, make the pockets on the front of the dress.

I would make the neck-hem a little wider, as I feel it doesn't stand out as much as I would like it to, being the contrasting colour!

Overall I am quite happy with it, and it is really nice to wear :)

Have you sewed this pattern too?
How did yours turn out?

Have you managed to finish something this week?

Feel free to share all of your FOs below :)

Have a great weekend.
See you next week

Welcome back to another week of Finished Object Fun!

This week I have managed to finish my June Socks
This means that I have completed my 7th pair for this year so far 8I knit an interim pair of socks along the way! :)

circle socks

I ran out of my main colour (probably due to the fact that I only ordered 50g :O) so these socks turned out considerably shorter on the leg then I usually knit them.

Info to the socks:

Pattern: Circle Socks
Yarn: MC: Regia colour
CC: Drops Fabel

How are your sock-along socks coming along?

If you haven't joined us yet, there is still half a year of months to fill with socks ;)

You can find out all the info about this Sock-along HERE

Have a great weekend.

Weaving

This week I don't have much progress to show you on the knitting, stitching or crochet front as I have been rather busy otherwise!

My June socks are done and I will share them with you on Friday (fee free to come by and share your FO for the week with me too :))

Over the last week I have concentrated more on the weaving and sewing side of my creative life.

I thought I would share some of these projects with you, even if some of them are not directly for me to create.

As you may know, if you have been following me for a bit of time, I work in a weaving studio with mentally handicapped people. Some of my ladies are incredibly talented and I am quite proud to be able to work with them all.

Generally they weave, but I prepare their warps for them according to products that I would like to see in our "For Sale" window.

Above is a warp for a client that should be started on in the near future.
This will become kitchen towels and is made with Cotton-Lin 22/2

warp

This pretty warp will become fabric that I plan to sew into bags or zipped cosmetic bags.

waffle weave

This is one of my favourite warps at the moment.
It is a waffle weave that will eventually become hand-towels.

On the sewing front, I will be starting a new sewing project next week.

I have chosen to make a Burda pattern from a couple of years ago (6/2012 pattern 125) and will be modifying it slightly.

burda 6/2012

Over the next couple of weeks I will be sharing my finished sewing projects with you all and hope you will share some of yours with me too ;)

Reading wise: I have finally picked up my book again and am trying to get through the title at a timely pace as I have really let my reading slide this year and I hope to rectify that soon.

I will be sharing this post with all of my lovely creative friends, so do pop over there for some great inspiration!

See you on Friday.

June is Here

My life seems to be getting busier and busier, or maybe time is just flying by?

I haven't had very much time over the last week to get much work done on my WIPs, so let me show you what I did manage to do.

gorjuss cross-stitch

First up, my stitching.

I have managed to finish the first quarter of my project and have started on the next bit.
I worked a little on this over the weekend, but upon looking at the image above I see that some of the stitches look like they could be going the wrong way :(

When I worked on this project I was already rather tired and the light I was working in wasn't the greatest, so I should have maybe put it down, but I so wanted to get a little further!

I guess, as it is my first cross-stitching project, I think I will let it slide, I need to be able to improve on this craft anyway, so I have learnt my first lesson - make sure light and eyesight is at optimum level :D

meadow blanket drops

On Sunday I managed to get to the end of clue 3 of my Meadow blanket, I hope I manage the next clue this weekend too :)

As today is June 1st, a new month of Sock-Along knitting has begun and with it my June socks!

circle socks

I have chosen to knit this month's pair toe-up and have managed to get past the toe and onto the foot today.

sock-along 2016

If you would like to join us in this month's sock-along I would love to have you over :)

You can find all the info on how to take part HERE

europa park

Last Wednesday I went with my colleagues and Kay to Europa Park in Rust, Germany.

The weather was perfect, not too hot and not too cold :) but we did have quite a long wait for all of the rides.
It was my first time there and I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the park was.

Definitely will go again!

Have you been?

Reading Wise: Still stuck on the same book as I lately just fall into bed, exhausted :(

I will be sharing this post with all of my creative weekly friends, so do pop over there for some great inspiration!

See you on Friday!

(I host a Finished Object linky party on Fridays, so do come by and link your gorgeous goodies for us all to admire :))
