FO Friday Fun

fo friday fun linky party

This week I can share my finished pair of July socks with you all :)

These turned out to be short, ankle socks as I felt that I would never be able to get them off my needles in time.

I actually really like them this length!

I had the opportunity over the last week to wear them and they are a great summer sock length, I will definitely be considering making more pairs this length in the future :)

What have you managed to finish over the last week?

Feel free to share your finished objects below :)

I hope you have a great weekend.

See you soon

I must be a little Sock-Mad!

I am starting tho think that I may a little sock crazy. Everywhere I look I either see sock projects or sock yarn!

I also have the urge to cast on a new pair as soon as the needles are empty, which would be fine if I didn't already have so many waiting for my attention as well as other projects which I would really like to work on!

Above you see a new pair of socks which I cast on on Sunday.

These will be a Christmas gift so I guess that they are excused as they will be going to Kay's boyfriend who really likes knitted socks :)

He has really big feet though, size 46 (US size 13) so I felt I should cast on now so that I have enough time to finish them off.

fine and dandy

Over the last week, I have been cleaning out m craft corner and my Fine and Dandy socks fell into my hands again.

I have now put them in my yarn bowl so that I am forced to look at them continuously until I get going on knitting them up :)

My other soon to be Sock Project is my August pair of Sock-Along socks which I will cast on next Monday.

I have decided to knit next month's pair in Baerenwolle and will cake up my yarn shortly.

I think this delightful blue yarn will go nicely with the pattern which I will be knitting.

Don't forget, if you want to join us in the monthly Sock-Along I would love to have you with us.
You can find all the info HERE

On other socks news:

I managed to finish my July socks in the nick of time and will share them with you on Friday.

Feel free to come and share any of your finished objects with me then too :)

Weaving Wise:

I have sleighed my reed for my new project and have changed up the heddle pattern slightly removing four threads in the process.

I hope to have this project in full swing on the weekend.

cross stitch kit

I have also managed to get a little more of my cross stitch project done this week, and look forward to having her hair completed shortly!

Reading wise: At the moment I am in-between books right now and will hopefully have started a new one by next week.

What have you been up to this week?

I will be sharing this post with all of my creative weekly friends, so do hop on over there for some great inspiration.

FO Friday Fun

Welcome back to another week of FO Fun :)

This week I have my kitchen towels and some pewter to share with you.

First up:

I really like my towels and think that they turned out really nicely, even thought the colours are definitely not something I would have chosen myself, I love the combination of the three colours together!

I also finished up the wedding photo frame for Kay's friends who got married over the last weekend.

Have you managed to finish something this week?

Feel free to share your FO below.

Getting Warmer Wednesday

What can I tell you....the weather is getting warmer, I am extremely busy and am not getting anywhere with my socks :(

I really hoped that this year the heat would not slow my knitting down, but it still looks like that is happening.
I do hope that I can manage to get these socks off the needles in time for the end of the month deadline!

I have already turned both the heels so I really could stop at any time, but I am not sure that this pattern lends itself to short socks?
Perhaps just a basic ribbed leg shortie would work wouldn't it?

Hmmmmm, that sounds like a plan!

What do you think?

Don't forget if you want to join me in the sock-along I would love to have you along for the ride :)

You can find all the info for the Sock-Along HERE

handwoven

Besides that, I have been mostly busy with my weaving and after adding the finishing touches have completed them and will share them with you all on Friday :)

(I do host a Linky Party to this end then so do come by and share your FOs of the week with me too!)

My loom has been dressed with the next project and I hope I will find some time this weekend to get a little further with this.

Table runner handwoven

Reading wise - Still on the same title as last week, but I am at least moving forward so that counts right?

How has your week been?

I will be sharing this with all of my creative weekly friends so do pop over there for some great inspiration.

See you soon.

FO Friday Fun

Another week has come and gone and I can't wait to see what you have managed to complete.
Feel free to link your finished objects of the week below.

felted cat basket

I have finally managed to finish my cat basket.

I did take a pre-felting photo, but my phone crashed, taking the photo with it :(

Anyway, at least you can see the outcome of this basket.
It is still a little big (it is also originally a dog basket pattern)
but the next time I wash it I will continue to felt it until it is the perfect size for our kitty!

If you recall, I was worried that I would run out of yarn on this project.

Well, I did run out of the turquoise coloured yarn and ended up improvising by cutting off all of my ends to be sewn in and using them for individual stitches - it was quite a bother!

The grey worked out a little better in that I had just over 20cm rest yarn once the project was done! - WHEW!!

Yarn: Drops Eskimo Grey 20 balls, Turquoise 4 balls.

What have you managed to finish this week?

Feels like Winter

Today is really nippy again, it feels like winter!

I went to work this morning in sandals, and have come home and swapped them for a pair of knitted socks!

Let me start with the socks you see above today.

These are my July Socks

I haven't knit very much on these socks this week, but am trying to dedicate a little time each day so that they can continue to move forward. I want to make the most of the cool weather today and will continue to knit on them as soon as I have got this post out!

I also managed to complete my cat basket and will share it with you on Friday. (Feel free to come back and share your FO for the week, I would love to see what you have managed to complete this week)

Over the weekend I worked intensively on my weaving, which I am happy to say is working well again :)

handwoven danish towel

This is towel one finished..

Towel 2 is also complete :)

I think I probably will only have time on the weekend to complete towel 3, and look forward to working on it when I can!

inkle loom 12/2 cotton

I have also warped an inkle loom with the same colours as my towels for some corresponding tape.

inkle loom

I am really liking how this band is looking :)

pewter picture frame

Kay is off to a wedding on the weekend and I offered to make the bride and groom a personalized photo frame.

I hope to be finished this frame on Friday and will share it with you all next week.

I will be sharing this post with all of my creative friends, so do pop on over there for some inspiration :)

FO Friday Fun

Another week has come and gone and I can't wait to see what you have managed to complete.
Feel free to link your finished objects of the week below.

This week I want to share my hoodie that I made hubby a couple of weeks ago.

Unfortunately, hubby isn't here to wear it whilst I am posting this, but if I have a chance to grab a picture with it one him shortly I will update this post ;)

I made this hoodie from the Kwiksew pattern K3045 (Model B)

kwiksew 3045
I modified it by adding a zipper to the front of the hoodie and pulling the pockets back towards the side seams.

I excluded the ties, but did include some ribbed cuffs inside the sleeves.

Hubby really likes it which is always a bonus ;)

It was a really quick and simple project as I made most of it with the serger!

Sewn with some lined fleece, olive green.

What have you managed to finish this week?

Works-In-Progress

This week has been a "Rip Back" kinda week, but strangely enough I am not that phased by this notion :O

Is it age I wonder?

Besides the ripping back I have also managed to get quite far on the various projects which I set out for myself this week.

Let me show you what I have been up to.

This is my first rip back project:

Öxabäck lilla

On Saturday I was thrilled to finally get on with some weaving.

Notice anything odd?

Danish Towels Handwoven 2015

This warp is for the Danish towel pattern of Handwoven (May/June 2015) which I warped around the same time as the magazine came out last year.

When I came to the end of the warp whilst dressing my loom, I noticed that I had 4 threads too many and I figured that I had wanted to make a strengthened selvage, but as I no longer saw the need I left those threads out of the warp and merrily began my pattern.

(This is what happens when a year of time lies between the warping and the dressing of a loom!!)

Whilst weaving, I did keep going back to the image in the magazine and wondering why my pattern wasn't looking the same - similar - but not the same, but I put it down to being too close to the warp and thought as soon as I stood away from the loom things would look a lot different.

Well, it was a pity I didn't stand up earlier, as when I did stand up I realized the problem. My pattern was off by 4 threads......funny, I had removed an extra 4 from the left side of the warp before I began......then it hit me! Obviously the selvage occurs on both sides - DUH, and since I had only removed the extra left hand selvage threads, I had not considered that I had had any extras when I began to dress my loom and so I merrily programmed a 4 thread mistake into my lovely warp!

What was I to do?

I cut off my already woven cloth and have since begun again to re-dress my loom!

Öxabäck handwoven

And this time I am rechecking my steps as I have not warped with any error-ease, so more than likely towel 1 will turn out to be a lot shorter than the other two towels :(

Oh well!

I hope to show you some better progress with this project next week though!

goetheanum

Last week I had the pleasure of visiting the Goetheanum in Dornach, Switzerland.

This is the world seat for the anthroposophical society and was designed by Rudolf Steiner.

What a magnificient building!
If you ever get the chance to visit this incredible build, I would warmly recommend that you do.

Having my children in the Waldorf school and working in an anthroposophical institution did definitely benefit me to "Understand" the building a little better.

On my way there I managed to get a little work done on my Fine and Dandy socks, which are another interim pattern for this year's Sock-Along.

fine and dandy

These are being knit up in Spinnwebstube Yarn and I love how they are turning out!

I may need to spice things up a little with this pair as I only have 50g of the pink, and 50g of the green, so it most likely won't be enough for a decent length sock.....I will think of something.

As the new month is here, those socks have been put down for a new month of Sock-Along fun :)

spinnwebstube yarn

This is my official pair of socks for the month of July.

I actually wanted to be a bit further for today (well, I already was) but I had to rip these back down to their toes as I had merrily continued in pattern on both sides of the foot!

Next week, there will definitely be a little more progress on these!

Don't forget, if you want to take part in this month's Sock-Along you can find all info HERE

As I seem to feel like I can never have enough socks on my needles at any given time right now, I also have cast on for a Mystery Sock-along called Lyanna

This was a spontaneous cast on, and I needed some solid yarn, so I quickly ordered some from Rita @ Spinnwebstube, and it arrived the very next day, just in time to cast on ;)

I ordered two skeins as I wasn't sure which one to choose:

spinnwebstube

Once I had unpacked them though, I knew if would be the blue - and I think Lyanna Stark is more of a blue don't you?

So blue it is...

Isn't it lovely?

Sewing: My tunic is just about done, I have to hem the tunic and the sleeves and I do hope I get a chance to do this sometime this week.

I have another FO in sewing that I will be sharing with you all on Friday.
Do come back then and share your FOs with me too (there will be a linky included for you to do so ;))

Reading: I have finally gone on to a new title - The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, and I am loving this book so far.

Ohh.....The cat basket is just about done too -  and I just may have enough yarn, hold thumbs that this is the case!

I will be sharing this post with all of my creative weekly friends so do drop by there for some super inspiration!

See you Friday.

Feel free to link your finished objects of the week below.

This week I have my pair of Stripey Socks to share with you all.

These socks were cast on a while back and I have knit on them in-between socks that were up for the Sock-Along.

I knit them toe up, two-at-a-time.

Fish Lips Kiss Heel.

With these off the needles I have brought my 2016 sock count to 8 pairs :)
