Sockmotion

These are just some of the socks that have been getting attention over the last week!

(I have quite a couple of other pairs that I still haven't looked at :O))

Let me give you a closer look.....

This is my progress on Hubby's new socks.

Can you tell I was lazy?

Once I figured out I had only ordered 50g, I decided to pull one end from the inside, and the other from the outside and figured it would be fine :D

I will be making contrasting toe, heel and cuff, but will see how it goes with the patterned yarn and hope that I get a good leg length. I do love the stripes though and will definitely be ordering more of this yarn!

I have managed to knit two or three rows of Kay's boyfriends Christmas socks and I really love the mindless sock knitting......

brainless

As today is the 31st of August I am ready for tomorrows new cast on :)

I can't wait to cast on my Brainless pair, the yarn is so cute.....

I hope you will be joining me in Septembers Sock-Along!

You can find all the info about the Sock-Along HERE

Weaving wise: I have managed to complete another placemat but as it looks like the last one, I won't be boring you with a similar image - hopefully next week I can show you the next one.

Reading wise: I am still busy with the same title, and am still enjoying it :)

I will be sharing this with all of my creative friends for this week, so pop on over for some great inspiration.

FO Friday Fun

FO friday Fun

Here is my FO for this week :)

nutkin

These are my Nutkin Socks which I knit in our August Sock-Along.

What a lovely pattern this was to knit!

It looks so elegant and yet the pattern is quite mindless which lends itself to enjoying knitting it that much more :)

I knit this pattern according to the instructions this time - well more-or-less.
The only mods I made were to use a fish-lips-kiss heel, and my normal toe instead of a short row toe.

Project details:

Pattern: Nutkin
Yarn: Baerenwolle Sock
Needles: Knitpro Zing 2.25mm

I can't wait to get stuck into next month's pattern :)

What have you managed to finish this week?

Feel free to share it below.

Beautiful Sunsets and WIPs

Last week we had a couple of gorgeous sunsets.
This was one of my favourites :)

As for last week's WIPs this is what I worked on:

handwoven placemat

I have finished my table runner and have started to make corresponding place mats.
This is the end of number 1 :)

I made so many samples with this warp that I am not sure if I will be able to make 4 place mats like I had planned, I guess time will tell :D

I have finished my Nutkin socks and will share them with you all on Friday (Feel free to come on over and share your finished objects for the week with me too :))

As I have a couple of days until the next month's Sock-Along begins I have cast on a pair of socks for hubby.

I have also picked my yarn for next month's project :)

Next month we will be knitting Brainless socks.
I will be knitting mine in some squishy PondeRosa yarn.

I hope you will consider joining us?

You can find all the info for the 2016 Sock-Along HERE

Joining in with all of my creative friends again this week.

Weaving Progress

media garn

Last week I was in a course which allowed me some practical train-knitting time, but other than that I didn't have much time for anything else.

Over the weekend, I managed to finally get my table-runner a little further and hope to have this part of my warp finished by this weekend so that I can start with the place mats :)

cottolin table runner

Because my warp is moving forward at a pace that I am enjoying, I have started to warp for my next project.

zsag media garn

This warp will become a lounge rug with matching cushions for our new living room :)

I can't wait to begin this project!

Nutkin

My August socks are progressing, and I am trying to get at least a pattern repeat done a day so that I will have them ready in time for the end of the month.

I still really like this mindless pattern with wow effect and am really glad I chose this for a month's project.

Don't forget, if you want to join in the Sock-along fun, you still have lots of time :)

You can find all the info HERE.

What have you been up to this week?

I will be sharing this post with all of my creative friends, so do pop over there and be inspired :)

Winding Balls

ball winder

Yes, you may ask yourself - what are those monstrosities?

Who knows!

I am getting so frustrated with my ball winder.
We started off on a good footing with each other and it would wind the prettiest cakes of yarn for me......in the beginning.......... when the relationship was fresh and new!

And now.....

It seriously winds the cakes any old how and no matter how much care I put into making sure that it is winding them correctly, lately they all start to take on a look of shame!

Have I possibly lost the capability to wind yarn, to turn a handle?

Oh dear, do any of you out there have the same problem?

I am wondering if it may be that it is not the top of the line brand of ball winder?

Hubby took my little friend apart last weekend, but to no avail, he told me that it should run smoothly :(

I would love to hear your tips on helping me solve this dilemma.

Works in Progress

wips

This week I have managed to work a little more on my stitching project and am just about finished the second quarter.

I am still enjoying this project immensely.

nutkin

On Monday, being the first of August, I started on my new month's Sock-Along pattern.

This is Nutkin and is being knit up in Baerenwolle sock yarn which is delightful!

I am knitting the pattern as is with no mods, except that I am knitting mine on a 2.25mm instead of a 2.5mm

You still have loads of time to come on over and join in the sock-along fun. If you have a sock which you cast on no earlier than the 1st August you are game!

sock-along

You can find all the details HERE

Besides these two projects I have been working on my new warp.

I have made two samples so far so that I can decide which pattern and which thread I will end up using for my final design.

sample 1

This is sample 1

monks belt

and sample 2 which is using different thread held double.

The project will turn out to be a table runner with corresponding place mats, so hopefully I don't run out of warp making samples :O

Reading wise: I have a new book on the nightstand - To kill a mockingbird. I look forward to getting into this classic.

What have you been up to this week?

I will be sharing this post with all of my weekly creative friends, so do pop on over there for some great inspiration!
