FO Fridays - Party

Drops Bolero 113-10

Today I would like to share Jas's Bolero that I finished last week Sunday.

I thoroughly enjoyed this uncomplicated, squishy project.

It looks amazing with Jas's Ball dress that she will be wearing to her first school ball tonight:

Drops cotton viscose

Drops Kid Silk

I loved the finished crochet edge which just finishes off the bolero perfectly giving it a super shiny touch :)

Drops Garnstudio 113-10

Now it is off to the party!

Which project have you managed to finish this week?

I wish you all a great weekend.

A Whole Lot of the Same

Weaving fun

Wednesday again, but not much has changed and so I am not going to bore you with similar images as last week.

What has changed from last week?
I have finished the bolero :)
I will post my FO on Friday for you.

I am just about finished the cat bed, I have ended up ordering more wool for it and will update you on it's progress next week.

I have completed the warp for my next weaving project and look forward to being able to starting soon.
I am planning on making hand-towels for the bathroom in our colour combination that we have presently.

Warmer Wednesdays

Wip Wednesdays

It feels like Spring is finally on our doorstep - Hooray!
It is so wonderful to not only see the sun again, but to feel that it is slowly gaining in strength.

This week I have only half of the projects from last week to show you because I have had to decide which are more important to finish off right now and to concentrate on those first.

Jas has her ball in a week and a half time which means I am knitting like crazy to get to the end of her bolero. I do hope I will make it in time. I am coming to the end of the first front side and then will get right on with the next side in an attempt to finish before the weekend!

Drops 113-10 Bolero Kids-Silk

When I need a change of scenery I am continuing on the pet bed I am crochetting for my cats. I am on the side of the bed now and am quickly running out of feltable wool and think I may need to order some more before I am finished with the project!

Cat bed felted Drops Eskimo

Due to this flurry of knitting I am coming short on time to finish my sock pattern for the upcoming KAL and it looks like it will have to start a fortnight later than originally planned, which I feel is better that way as I don't want to rush through finishing the pattern without having the extra bit of time to be sure the pattern is also correct! :)

Reading wise: I have now finished Allegiant and have started reading The 100 Year Old Man who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared
I am also still busy with Why Cleaning has Meaning and am enjoying the title so far.

What are you busy reading?

And for this week's awesome news:

Beekeeping 2014

Handmade Beehive

I am in my second year of my Beekeeper course and was wondering if I should postpone this years course until next year when I once again have enough time on my hands to start in earnest. Last week Thursday I asked the Universe to send me a sign as to which way I should go - finish the course this year or wait for 2015. Blow me down, as I got to work the first thing I got asked by a colleague of mine is if I wanted to have 2 beehives! What are the odds of that happening? Needless to say I have now continued my studies this year :)

Aren't the hives cute? They need a little work, but they are fully equipped with wax, varroa sheets.....everything I need, so I am actually ready for my own swarm of bees ;)

Don't forget to enter yourself to win the amazing online Sewing Course taking place here on the blog, you only have a couple of days left - Winner will be announced on 26th March 2014.

See you soon.

Fun FO Friday - Including a Giveaway :)

Over the past weekend I decided to continue my sewing projects which I started on 31st December 2013 (Yip, I stopped sewing at midnight and haven't picked up the project again :))

These projects were part of the course I am currently taking on Craftsy - Sewing With Knits

Online Sewing Class

I love this course and am finally back on track with my sewing :)

On Saturday I finished my Surplice dress and went on to create another surplice dress :)

This course is so wonderfully easy and well explained that Jas (she is 15) made a dress with me and hers looks amazing!

In this course I learnt to sew 5 different wardrobe must-haves and have loved making each of them:

Sewing with knits

win a craftsy course

My first project the hoodie

Craftsy Sewing with Knits

Next my first ever T-Shirt :)

Sewing with knits easy skirt

Next I made the skirt

Sewing with knits - yoga pants

Then the most comfy yoga pants

Surplice dress Craftsy Meg McElwee

surplice dress tunic Craftsy

surplice dress how to

And last - but certainly not least (this is just the beginning) - my two versions of the surplice dress in two different types of jersey.

Don't you just love Craftsy?

What is it that makes me love Craftsy so much - let me count the ways:

  1. I can take the courses on my own time whenever I am ready.
  2. I can revisit the courses over and over until I am comfortable with the techniques.
  3. I can ask my tutors questions (in paid courses) which I will get answered in a "Virtual Classroom" platform
  4. I can also get help from my fellow students on the platform (free and paid classes)
  5. I get all the necessary materials in a super, well-explained PDF format
  6. I get hours and hours of HD quality, step-by-step video lessons
  7. I can share my projects and see other shared projects of other students
  8. The courses teach you unknown techniques in clear, precise steps, taking you from novice to advanced in a delightful, relaxed manner.
  9. The courses are also great ways to refresh known techniques and learn something new along the way.
Have you also taken this course?
No?
Would you like to?

If you would like to experience this amazing course with Meg McElwee you have the chance to win yourself this course (Retails at $39.99) over the next week - The giveaway ends on 24th March 2014

Grab your chance to visit this amazing course today!!

Good Luck - Winner will be announced on the 26th March 2014.
