Friday FO Fun

I have finished my cuffs, and I really like them!
I like the colour and the way they turned out.
I didn't follow a pattern but had a clear idea of how I wanted them to look :)

Have you managed to finish something this week?

Feel free to share your Finished Object for the week below.

New Adventures :)

new projects

I am glad to finally have some new colours to work with and some new projects to look forward to :)

I have finished my cuffs and will show those to you on Friday.

This week I will be adventurously starting a couple of projects, for a couple of reasons!

Firstly, it is getting cooler, so I have the urge to knit!
Secondly, I am excited as I finally have the urge to knit!
Thirdly, as always, I have decided to spontaneously start some new projects in the hope that they will be completed in time for the festive season!

Yesterday I ordered some yarn in preparation for some gift knitting. I am hoping the parcel will be here by next week and then I will show you what I have in mind.

In the image above you see some of the beginnings of new projects.

Firstly:

Drops Fabel

These two lovely autumny coloured yarns will be used to knit myself some Zigzagular socks :)

Next:

Drops Fabel 151

These two will be the first of the festive knits. I plan on making Jas some Classy Slip-Up Socks.

Besides that I plan on finishing up my last kitchen cloth which has been hibernating for the longest time!

Today, I also signed myself up for the SAL that Truly Myrtle is hosting.

For the SAL I plan on knitting Libby's awesome Mindful Shawl (She is offering a discount on her patterns until the 2nd September) and am considering knitting it in this Regia Yarn that I have in my stash, but I am not sure if it will work out well :O

If not, there will be some other yarn coming in my order that I could definitely use for this project!

I also plan on sewing myself a thing or two! Not sure what just yet but I do have some fabric waiting to get a new form!

What have you been up to this week?

I will be sharing this with all my creative weekly friends, so head on over for some awesome inspiration!

See you on Friday.

Friday FO Fun!

socks

I have finally managed to get my neighbours socks off of my needles :)
This is them - Size 39 and knitted with Drops Fabel.

I didn't follow any pattern, just knit some socks :D
I made them with the boomerang heel which I am really getting to love for it's ease! There is no need to write down where I am at, and I can put down the socks and pick them up again and know exactly here I left off the last time I knit them!

If you would like to try your hand at the boomerang heel I explain it here in a video.

The next thing I have to share with you is some sewing that I have been working on.

Of course I have started a new sewing course online ;) and decided that as I am always having problems with zippers I would dive right in and create some of the cute bags we get to make step-by-step!

zip it up

I started out making the Runaround bag with some of our handwoven fabric from work.
I absolutely love how these bags turned out!

Because I lined these bags with the woven fabric too, they turned out a little thicker than they would have had I used quilting cotton, and as such I didn't manage to get very crisp turned corners!

I think they look great as they are though :)

Joan is a great instructor, and thanks to her I will be pushing forward in the zipper department, because now I can!

I can't wait to try the other bags in the course :)

I will be creating some other projects with zippers soon so do come back for more :)

Have you managed to complete a project this week?

I would love to see what you have been up to, so feel free to share your finished object below.

Until next time

Finally Something New!

This year just seems to be running away and I haven't really got around to doing anything major on my needles so far!
Maybe this year it is not meant to be - Big knitted projects I mean.

I have finished a couple of small projects and a pair of socks here and there, but definitely no cardigan and no sweater, but I am strangely okay with that!

My work takes up a lot of my time this year, and I am finding that by being creative in my work environment hampers the need to be creative as a hobby also!

Do any of you feel this way too?

The cool thing about leaving my needles alone for a while is that I am discovering other creative outlets that I really would like to research, like sewing and embroidery. I have also had ample time to delve into some interesting titles, so all is good!

Are you getting that chill on your side of the world too?

Autumn is definitely in the air here!

We have had a gorgeous, hot summer this year so the cooler weather is a welcomed change.

But as any other knitter knows, just the smell of cooler weather to come flips on this unseen "Need-to-knit-something-warm" switch which gets me frantically clicking the needles to create something - anything warm!

Staying on the small projects I have opted for some cuffs/sleeves.

sleeves

I have decided to maybe make these up as I go along, we will see! In any event I have cast on two cuffs and I will keep you updated on how they develop.

Reading wise: Still reading about Beethoven and finding his life rather interesting.

I do actually have a knitted FO to share with you all on Friday, among other things so I will see you then :)

Have a good week :)
See you soon!

Back to the Real World

WIP Wednesday

Over the last two weeks we have been on holiday.
In our first week we went to visit a dear friend of mine who lives in Leipzig.
What a wonderful visit that was, Leipzig was really quite impressive too! I love the fact that the City had a bit of everything in it, culture, night-life, bicycle riding, an enormous zoo and great food! The only thing it seems that it doesn't have would be hills :)

This week I am back to the real world and am getting into the swing of things here and at work.

We have a market coming up this weekend and I wanted to have a couple of things to display on the table from our institution and so I have been working very intensely on a couple of projects to sell.

Lip Balm Key Rings

As you may know I work in a weaving studio and so the idea is to sell some awesome goodies that have been made from our cloth and /or from our clients by hand.

I came across this amazing idea for Lip Balm Key Rings on Sew 4 Home which has become my new favourite sewing haunt :)

I am going to whip up a couple of these (hopefully they will be ready by Friday) and then I will place them on the market.

Sock wool Bernetta

With this sock wool, I plan to knit up a quick pair of slop socks, but I am not sure these will make it to this month's market.

Handwoven cloth

This handwoven cloth will hopefully be turned into a delightful bag which I will show you more of once it is done.

socks

As for my private WIPs, I am entering the last 5cm of the socks I am hoping to have finished for my neighbours birthday - whew, I will be glad when these are done!

Reading-wise: Still the same as before my holiday. At the moment, I plop into bed at night, with work and making preserves, freezing, dehydrating etc of our summer harvest I haven't the energy to read more than a page at night right now.

What have you been up to this week?

I will be sharing this post with all my creative weekly friends.

See you on Friday :)
