Calendar Of the Soul - Week 39

Surrendered to the spirit's revelation,

I win back the light of cosmic being.
It grows and grows,
enlightening me,
to give myself back to me.

And this feeling of self--

awakening--
unravels itself
out of my strength
as a thinker.

WIP Wednesday

Well, I am just about done with my Xmas goodies.
I finished my other cap on Sunday, (Will show you it in its' glory on Friday) and have my Houndstooth scarf blocking as we speak. I hope it will be dry later so I can back it and give it to the recipient tomorrow :)

I did have to admit that I probably won't be managing the mittens to go with the caps and scarves :( If I had until Christmas I would make them with no big stress, but I need to give them away tomorrow, so I don't think I will make it, we will see depends on how adventurous I feel this evening!

The top image is of handmade goodies that I still need to work on today for tomorrow. Will show you the completed projects on Friday.

How is your handmade gift making going?
Are you done?
I look forward to seeing some of your amazing creations this week on Tutorial Thursday tomorrow.

If you missed my Filofaxiness post this week, you can go HERE to grab your FREE Printable on "Yarn Lurv"

See you tomorrow

Calendar of the Souls - Week 37

This is the blissful striving of my heart's desire:

To carry the light of the spirit
into the cosmic winter night,
so that sparkling seeds of my soul
may take root in cosmic soil--

and that the word of God may resound
through the darkness of my senses,
transfiguring my entire existence.

Filofaxiness - Yarn Lurv

Welcome back to the last segment in my knitting section of my Filofax.

Today I am going to take you through my Yarn-Wishlist / Shopping List.

If you missed last weeks post on "The Queue" You can visit it HERE for your FREE Printable.

This is a "Newish" printable that I have created and will probably will be evolving over the next while.

I usually have so many projects that I would like to undertake, but when I come to ordering for my immediate yarn needs, I always kick myself afterwards when I realize that I could have saved myself some money by buying a little extra yarn to save on postage, but I never quite know which yarns to get.

So, I started a list which I keep in my knitting section, where I can note which yarns are necessary for future "Wanna-be" Projects. This way, if I can, I will try to purchase some of the yarn with my orders so that they go from "Wanna-be" to Definite Projects :)

I would love to hear from you if you use my inserts.
How do they work for you, are there details that still need to be included/excluded?
Let me know I am always open to suggestions.

Please feel free to print out a copy of my inserts for your personal use.

Click on the images below to download your FREE PDF copies.

Note - These pages are for personal usage only and may not be reproduced and/or sold. If you are using my inserts, please give me the credit, thank you.

I have two options of my Yarn Wishlist for you:

Click below to see how I use the inserts.

The next two Sundays will be Filofaxiness Free :(

I will have my next Filofaxiness Post up for you on the 6th January 2013 (Wow, that feels weird to write!)

I will start the new year introducing you to my new........

Filofax Domino :D YEAH!!!!

See you then, I hope you all have a Fantastic, Filofaxy, Festive Season.

This weeks' Tutorial is based on today's' date: 13th December - St. Lucia's Day - a Swedish celebration.

St. Lucia is the symbol of light and the ceremony is so rich in the symbolism of Light. We celebrated our St. Lucia Festival yesterday at work...why then you ask, well because it was convenient ;) as we were all there!

It started with our Lucia adorning her head with her candle crown, and then the group went through the house at 7:00am waking up all the inhabitants of the house with song.

Once everyone was awake, they all convened in the dining hall to have breakfast together, including the typical Saffron Buns - another symbol of light.

Today I want to share this recipe with you, to bring a little light into your lives and festive season.

Saffron Buns

1 Cup Milk
125g melted butter
3/4 Cup of Sugar
1 tsp Salt
1 packet of Saffron (powdered)
2 packets of Yeast
6 cups of Flour
2 Eggs beaten

Add the saffron to the melted butter.

Allow to stand for 30 minutes.

Bring milk to the boil and remove from the heat. Add the sugar, salt and butter.

Allow to cool and then add yeast. Allow to stand for 10 minutes.

Add 3/4 of the flour to the liquid.

Add the eggs and the raisins.

Mix until you get a nice doughy consistency, adding more flour as you need to to get a nice smooth dough.

Stand, covered for approximately an hour, until the dough has doubled in size.

Remove from the container, form and place on the tray.

Cover and allow to double in size again.

Place in a pre-heated oven at 180 Degrees Celsius.

Bake for 15-30 minutes until brown.

And there you have baked sunshine.....Enjoy!

Until next week
