I am going to show you how to create a cute Yarn Tree centre piece for your Festive Table.
What you need: A Cardboard box or piece of cardboard (I used a cereal box) Plastic Wrap Tape Yarn Gonis Design Freezer* (Glues the yarn into the shape and keeps it stable) Gonis Dekopointer* (to add deco effects to finished tree) Gonis Finisher Lack* (to seal project and make it water resistant)

Roll up the cardboard to form a cone shape and tape to hold it's form

 Cut off the edge and make sure it can stand properly.

Wrap the cone in plastic wrap.

Wind the yarn haphazardly, but firmly around the cone.

Using a sponge dab the Design Freezer* over the entire cone, be sure to cover all sides. Allow to dry.

Once dry remove the cone from the bottom and cut the edges straight.

Using the Finisher, cover the tree. To add a little sparkle I used Gonis Eiskristal * (glass splinters) to give it that "Snowy" effect.

Add Dekopointer* drops throughout to look like tree ornaments.

And there it is, a quick and easy festive table decoration.

Wondrously Warm Wednesday WIPs

A wonderfully warm Wednesday to you all. The sun is out on our side of the globe, but it doesn't look all that warm, so I guess I will stay inside and knit....sounds like a plan right?

I have a lot to show you this week, which is great, amazing what a sudden snow storm can do for the motivation to knit up some quick winter woolies ;)
Some of my projects from last week are already FOs so I will be showing you them on Friday.

Here is my focus for this weeks WIPs (This is by no means a complete image of the WIPs sitting next to my sofa by the way, just what I am looking at today and maybe tomorrow LOL!):

Let me start off with the next big ball of fun :)

Yip, another ball of squishy, soft Drops Verdi! 

How often do you find yourself knitting a pullover and a full length cowl out of 350g of yarn? 

And at the moment it is available for a discounted price at my LYS? 

Enough said! 

This is Jas's "Perfectly Pink" choice of pullover for her ball of loveliness. What do you think?

The next project is also snow inspired....

These are some leg warmers I am quickly knitting up for the teenagers of the house :). They are quite fashionable here at the moment and I am stash-busting with, you guessed it, some more Drops yarn for this WIP :) They will definitely be finished today and I will share them and the simple pattern with the rest of my FOs on Friday.. 

Because of the urgency for gloves, caps and the like, I have placed the completing of my Pay it Forward gifts momentarily on hold. Please know that I definitely haven't forgotten about you and will continue with these gifts as soon as my time allows.

Tomorrow it is time for the 5th post in Tutorial Thursdays.

Somewhere over the Clouds :)

On Thursday we set off on for a hike up to the "Schafloch" here in the canton of Berne. Leaving home in the fog we drove higher and higher until we had this amazing sea of cloud beneath us. Once at the foot of the mountain I was overwhelmed at the size of it all! I had a pretty steep climb to the tunnel that was created in the mountain, but we then hiked through the mass of 600m of tunnel to enjoy a breathtaking view on the other side. This tunnel used to be an ice-tunnel through the Rothhorn mountain. It was used by the military in the second world war as a possibility to bring resources and men to the underlying villages should they need the help. Today it stands as it is and is a big hiking attraction.

Orange and finished :) My Quick Knit Cardie is done, but I have yet to block it. The cowl is just about ready but not off the needles right now, so I will have to show that next week. Sorry, the photos are a bit bright and a bit fuzzy.... Will take another one with the cowl and a real camera next week!!

If you are interested in making the scarf pin I have on my cardigan you can find out how I made it here. I have used a different pin with my cardie today, made it with a kebab stick, clumped a bit of the Miralight* clay on the end, allowed it to dry and painted it brown.

This week I will be showing you how to create this Scarf Pin.

I will be using these materials:
Gonis Miralight* (Pliable Clay that is very stable when dry) Gonis DecoPointer* (Creates dots and can be used to write on projects and surfaces) Gonidecor* (Universal colour)
Finisher* (Lack to complete the project making it water resistant)

I use Gonis because I love the products, they have an amazing quality which I have yet to find anywhere else. If you cannot get your hands on these products you will need to find similar substitutes.  *If you would like to know more about Gonis please contact me.
First using the Miralight, take a small portion and create a roundish form and a stick form :)

Inside my "Pin" I inserted a piece of a kebab stick to give it a bit more stability.

Once formed, allow to dry, preferably over night.

Now paint your pieces. I added an extra piece as I wanted to have the option to change the colour of the pin.

Allow to dry and then embellish with the DekoPointer.

Once this step is dry, varnish and allow to dry.
