How so you ask?

Below is the usual Linky Party Link up widget, what is special is what you link up!

This week I will be featuring all of the "Tutorial Linkys" I find below.

Where has the time gone!

WIP Wednesday

Oh my, can you believe that we are already almost in September?
September - ooh it has so many good things for you all in store don't miss it :)

I don't have a stash update for you all today as this project is not completed yet, hopefully next month!

On to this week's progress:

The first sleeve is growing, as it goes with all my projects knitted for myself apparently, I had to rip back 10cm of work and redo it as the patterning was completely wrong - URGH!!

sleeve knitting

I have now come back to where I was and am moving forward, hoping that I will make good progress with sleeve 2 by next week so that I can start to focus on the finish line!

Do you have the same problems when you knit something for yourself?

I am seriously starting to wonder if it is a phenomenon to be considered or if, because I am knitting it for myself, I become very picky about the work as I will ultimately be wearing my trademark?

I guess being a knitter (my "Knit in Public" reputation precedes me) most of my friends will ask if I knit what I am wearing. If I say yes, they move in for a closer look, and I really don't want to start to get uncomfortable as I see that awful YO gone wrong leering at me from the corner of my elbow, know what I mean?

Anywhoo, the next project is just around the corner and it should be smooth sailing as it is not for me LOL!! :)

Did you miss the Knitting Madness Event last Friday?

No worries you can catch up on the edited version of the Hangout HERE

I will be sharing this post, as always with my lovely Wednesday Ladies :)
Have a good one!
x

P.S. I still have a couple of openings for my FREE Button Swap that takes place each month. If you want to swap buttons with me let me know :)

Knitting Madness In September

knitting madness Live hangout

Knitting Madness in August

Another amazing event!
Last night was the monthly Knitting Madness Live Hangout that was streamed here and on Youtube.

This month I was joined by Anne-Pia from Denmark.
On her blog - Tekstiltrolden she aims to help people in Denmark discover and fall in love with the craft of knitting.

I spent a wonderful half an hour with her discussing which needles we use and why.

I have edited the live event and you can watch the compacter version below :)
(The events are getting better, this time we have sound throughout ;) but I still experienced some hiccups with Anne-Pia being visible. I fixed that as best as I could, next month better watch out, now I am armed and ready LOL!!)

Next months' event is scheduled and the topic set.

The topic:
Is that your Project Bag?

We will all be having a peek at what each of us has inside our most used project bag, be sure to bring it with you, we all want to know what you think is important to have with you as you sit down to knit :)

The date for September's Hangout:

27 September 2013

Time:

9:00pm Central European Time (3:00pm EDT)

I realize that it is not often easy for my friends from the rest of the world to always be available at this time on a Friday, but if you are home and there is still space, feel free to just jump on in :)

Next month the event will be a public Live event and places will fill as the people arrive.

Please let me know if you plan on attending by adding yourself to the attendee list HERE

As always there is only enough space for 10 people in this event. (Those on the attendee list will be invited first before the event is opened to the public)
Doors open at 8:30pm so get there early to grab your spot.

As soon as doors open, I will send out the link to the hangout.

If you can't make the hangout, no worries, you will still be able to watch the live event here and on my Youtube Channel as it happens, and the edited version will be posted the following day.

These hangouts are great ways to introduce your knitting blogs as well as network with like minded people - great fun!

If you want to find out the schedule and what the upcoming topics will be, please subscribe to my newsletter.

I look forward to meeting some new wonderful, interesting people next month :)

See you in exactly:

Finally Sleeves :)....

Drops 141-18

This past week I have been pretty motivated knitting-wise, I think it is because I really want to move on to new pastures and with the nip in the air already, I do get this "Got to Knit" Feeling.

I have finally caught up to where I was before I ripped back on my project, past that mark and have started the sleeves.

Usually I knit the sleeves flat and both at the same time, but with the patterning I decided it would be easier to knit each one in the round instead of having to figure it out how to sew it all together when done :)

When I started sleeve one last night I originally had it on DPNs, then I decided it was about time that I master the magic loop, which I think I have now done (what was I waiting for?), and transferred the project to my rounds. "Goodbye side ladders" which I hated from knitting on DPNs  (they always would happen on just one corner - so annoying!!)

I have a friend who is expecting her first baby, so it is nice to be able to browse through some baby patterns, I will be knitting something for her little one once this project is over, can't wait :)

OOOh, I have to tell you, I have seen and pre-ordered my Christmas Pressie, I can't wait to show you when it gets here, (it will still take a while though :( ) I won't spoil the surprise for you or me, but it has something to do with yarn ;)

Reading-Wise: I have pulled out my E-Reader and am reading a book electronically again, it is fun and convenient, but I have loved holding real books up till now again I must admit!

What book am I reading?

online book club hangout

Well the book from our Book-Club of course :) - The Life of Pi - so far I am really enjoying this title!

Book Review - The Liberty Tree

Free Delivery on all Books at the Book Depository

ISBN: 978-0857899415

I haven't read too many memoirs in my time, but after this title I am considering keeping my eyes pealed for anything that may look as interesting as this title was!

This book is an amazing feat of bravery and honesty.

I felt like I had been given the privilege to get a glimpse into a life that I otherwise would never have touched upon. Ms. Harrington takes an amazingly gutsy approach at leaving behind a memoir for her children about their dad who takes his own life.

The title travels down her own rocky road filled with drugs and alcohol, admitting to her children things that most parents would keep under lock and key - truly inspiring!

No life is straightforward, even those that seem simple and carefree, and the author manages to tell her story in all honesty, but in such a way that the readers can relate, regardless which kind of rocky or smooth youth one comes from.

I found this book to be one of those titles that I had to pry out of own my hands and put down so that I could eventually get some sleep, as I just wanted to know, regardless of the tragic circumstances that take place in the book, that all will have a happy end.

I would warmly recommend this book to any parenting adults (who think their struggles are mountain-high) as well as adults without children.

The title allowed me to respect the fact that we all have our own burdens to carry, whether they be self-inflicted or not, and solving those issues takes great strength and courage. It also gave me a sense of pride in my own family life, to know that it could be so different, how lucky we are to be this unique family unit, enjoying each others time and company, a home filled with love.

I give this book:

You can find my book rating scale in my sidebar.
