Work-In-Progress Wednesdays

I have been really busy this week, as I am imagining the rest of you crafters have been also.

Reading: Nothing :( And I so want to get into my next book from Jodi Picoult, hope I get around to it this week...

The two balls of Drops Alpaca yarn are waiting to jump on the needles for the caps I mentioned last week, don't they look scrumptious? They feel it too :)

I finally managed to get all my Pay it Forward gifts done and sent off, what a great feeling, I will show you the parcels as an FO on Friday.....so if you ladies out their who are on the receiving side haven't received them by then, please be aware....SPOILER alert :)

Let me start with my Houndstooth Scarf.

I am so loving this project, don't you just adore colour work, it is so much fun and it grows so quickly :)
Now, as much as I am loving it, I do have my concerns about the back.

Obviously there is nothing I can do about how the back looks on colourwork, or is there?
It is going to be a gift, and I don't want my friend to be constantly catching the scarf wherever she goes, but I am not sure what to do about it.

I considered, as the scarf will be wide enough, to sew it in half at the end like so.....

But what worries me about this option is that the scarf will end up being pretty thick, so I am not sure about that either.

I hope some of you out there have some suggestions, what should I do, I don't want to rip it out and make it less wide, well, because my time is running out.....I look forward to hearing from you.

If you missed out on my latest Filofaxiness post on Monday, I explained how I keep on top of my WIP Projects. You can go HERE to grab your FREE Printables.

I would love to be able to feature and pin some of your amazing weekly crafts on Tutorial Thursdays, so if you want to party, I would love it if you came past.
This weeks' Tutorial Thursdays Post will be posted later on today, but you still have a couple of hours to link up from last weeks' post if you would like to :)
Happy Crafting :)
See you tomorrow

I will be sharing this post with the amazing crafters out there over at Tamis and Ginny.

  1. Lovely pattern. As for the back...You could line it with a lightweight material, but that would be a lot of work.

  2. I can also only think of backing the scarf..what ever you choose, it will be a lot of work..I like the back, it shows the amount of effort and care you put into this piece..it should be appreciated..but yep..will be nothing if it gets caught and pulled! It is a wonderful piece..

someone is going to enjoy a new cap..the alpaca is lovely..

  4. Hello Natalie,
The scarf looks very beautiful and I agree with Jenn to line it. A soft shiny viscose material will be chic too, I think:) Great gift, by the way!

    1. Hi Elisabeth,
      Thanks for your visit.
Since all the lovely comments this morning, I have definitely been thinking about it.
I will have to see what I find that will suit the scarf, viscose you say, will see what I can get my hands on.
I have never lined anything knitted before though, do you sew it by machine, by hand, with cotton or wool?

  7. The scarf looks great! I would try and line it with a soft material as there is a possibility of things getting snagged.

    1. Hi Anke,
Thank you, it is looking more and more like this is what I should be doing.
What about sewing the edges together to create a cowl? Do you think that would work?

  8. I love your work! I think I'd go for lining it as well... I've never done it but I'd look up tutorials on how to line a baby blanket since they are often lined with fabric on one side. Good luck!

  10. so i know nothing about color work, but maybe you could cover the back with felt or something to keep the yarn from snagging? and so it wouldn't be super think.
anyway, it looks amazing! so impressive.

    1. Hi momto5,
Thank you so much, I agree, the thickness is almost more of a problem than the snagging, I don't know about you but I really don't like scarves that are too thick!
      Thanks for visiting.

  14. You could leave it as it is -- the reverse side is very neat and even -- and call it reversible.
