WIP Wednesday / Yarn Along / Summer Sweater KAL

I have been dividing my time this week between my Summer Cardigan and my Summer Sweater KAL WIP
Even though I have been really trying to get the cardigan finished (I had hoped it would have been done for last weeks' FO Friday) but I am still on the last repeats of the bottom edge. I think it will be more likely that I will have this cardigan finished for next weeks' Friday, we will see. I am pleased with the progress none-the-less and it will be a great feeling to finally finish this cardigan!
If you have been following my blog, you will know that I signed up for a Summer Sweater KAL over at luvinthemommyhood. I posted about my two projects here. I have started on the crochet project and so far have been getting some granny squares done. I had to play around and eventually work out my own granny square design as it needed to be a certain size and the ones I started off with were way under the requirements. Then when I picked up my needle the next day and made some new squares, they didn't resemble the first lot at all :-( So after a lot of practice runs *Laughs nervously* I have finalized my pattern for the squares and am on my way.
On the reading front:
I got the 39 Clues for Jas and thought I would read them for a quick read this week. It is an adventure series that has had positive reviews and is accompanied by interactive solving of the clues with the various cards as far as I can suss out. Anyway, I started book 1 last night. I didn't get very far, so I can't give you my impressions just yet, will let you know more next week.
Hope you will come and join me tomorrow for Kitchen Krafts. If you have traditions you keep alive, recipes you want to share or tips and tricks from around the home I would love to hear from you. See you tomorrow. x

I will be sharing this post today over at:

  1. The 39 Clues are fun books - quick reads, but not mindless.

  3. Hi there!

Thanks for visiting my blog :) Bea does have an amber necklace and it sure does help!

Well done on knitting sweaters! I have one that I've had for two years and I'm still only on the sleeves! Eeeep! Hopefully I will pick it up again in the autumn.

    Happy knitting!

  8. The sweater looks like it fits beautifully so far. I can't imagine you could finish it this week, though. Better to take your time and get it right!

    1. Hi Minding My Own stitches,

I guess you are right, I will take it slow, I can't afford to make a mistake on this one because then it will definitely be frogged for good!
As it is, I am rather stuck into finishing off the needed granny squares at the moment so the cardigan has been put aside for today at least.

      Thanks for your visit :-D

    1. Hi Lindsay,

I must admit, this has been my first attempt at the granny squares and it is really fun. What I love about crochet is how you can firstly just pull out the last batch of stitches if needed (without the extra panic about getting them back) and secondly - the more you make of them, the more your hands seem to naturally know what they need to do! So cool!

      Thanks for dropping by.
