Whats' New Wednesday?

Well.....

Firstly: This......

My new box of ordered yarnie loveliness!

Well, I now think the order was so worth it - all you yarn lovers out there will understand!
I could not resist, I had all good intentions of taking out the yarn for the shawl and only that yarn and keeping the rest of the wonderful fluffiness for a later date.....but I couldn't resist, oh my, such goodness!
I bought some Drops Big Delight for a crochet cowl pattern and I had to try it!
Believe it or not, I finished the cowl last night in one sitting, but Kay did not like it, it looked great but it just turned out to be WAY too big!
So I ripped it out and decided to go with my own crochet something or other ;) So far so good, I think it doesn't look all too bad.

Any tips? I thought I would just crochet along until it reaches the required length and then will sew the ends together, but I am very much a crochet novice.

I have progressed on my other Stash-busting project.

This is the first of my pair of socks..
Very interesting pattern, I have never knitted socks this way before, the family love them too and can't wait for their pair to come around :)

The shawl, is a little further but not much, I hope I will finish it before this weekend when I need to wrap it in the birthday parcel :O

Reading wise - I finished my bedside table book last night and can't wait to crawl between the covers tonight with Book number 2 of my Online Book-club :)

I must share this with you:

Isn't it a beaut? My Employer has kindly lent me one of their spinning wheels so that I can try it out....ooh can't wait for a little time to try my hand at spinning, I do hope I have the patience for it.

Hope you will be joining us for Tutorial Thursdays Tomorrow, I will be sharing this craft with you:

Creating this Antique tray

I wish you all a wonderful Wednesday.
Do head over to Tami and Ginny for loads of creativeness.

  1. Oh yarn goodies...I love seeing a collection of yarn like that and wondering what they will become. I can't advise on the cowl as I'm only a very novice crocheter as well. Love the socks and I love knitting socks, I wish I had more time to do more pairs as my family are waiting their turn for a pair also. You are going to like the book I think, I know I'm thoroughly enjoying it !

I guess we always wish that, when the parcel arrived I also thought to myself, "Oh I should have also ordered wool for....." That is called yarn-addiction LOL!!!

  4. Oh yes, I see, you went Drops Yarn shopping. I think they have just so lovely yarn. I got a box full of yarn from them in December but most of it were christmas presents. I think I gave exactly the same colour you have in the middle (the pink-green one) to be my mother in law to be. It felt so lovely. I might get some of that for me as well next winter.

You and me both, I am a bit weary to start as the hand spindle was not really my friend, hope it goes well!

  8. OOooooo! I love yarn deliveries! In fact, I'm jealous that this package didn't land on my doorstep. :-D I'm interested to hear how your spinning goes. I've been contemplating trying it, but I haven't made time.

The yarn deliveries are one thing, would be super if they didn't come with the accompanied bill ;)
